About First CRC
Meet Our Pastor
Pastor Michael comes to First CRC from Chicago where he began leading worship as a singer and guitarist during chapels in high school & church.
He began his college years studying at I.I.T. as an Architecture major and transferred to UIC to earn a B.A. in Music. While working in industrial sales and management, Michael felt God calling him to ministry. He earned his M. Div. from Western Theological Seminary in 2016. During seminary, Michael served at Faith Church as interim pastor and after graduation, was ordained in the RCA as a Pastor of Community Engagement.
Michael, along with his wife, Alida, and two sons, Simon and Berand, complete our family here are 1st CRC. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, reading, hiking, biking and creating home brewed beers and ciders.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Bible is the inspired word of God, the infallible rule for faith and life.
​
Salvation is a gift from God; a gift he has freely given to all by dying on the cross, for all who confess, believe in, and follow Him.
Doing good works is a responsive way to thank our Lord for the gift of salvation.

God has a plan, will, power, and control over all situations.
​
Three creeds: Apostles' Creed, Athanasian Creed, and the Nicene Creed.
​
Three Confessions: the Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort.
